  • Lorraine is a social epidemiologist, sexual and reproductive health advocate, and youth health educator. Lorraine has over 15 years’ public health experience in research, education, and program implementation in the areas of HIV/AIDs and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Lorraine has extensive training in epidemiological methods, with a keen understanding of health inequities and associated downstream health disparities.

Lorraine’s work experience is broad in scope and includes providing high-quality and cost-effective project management of federally and privately sponsored research at academic institutions, conducting randomized controlled trials, and consulting on community needs assessments. Her most extensive work experience took place at academic institutions where she worked in HIV prevention research, with a focus on reducing young urban women’s sex risk. Lorraine has managed multiple research teams, provided oversight to the technology and online security arms of the research team, worked directly with the principal investigator to plan, implement, and disseminate research findings at academic and research institutions, and presented research findings at domestic and international conferences. She has a strong track record in building teams, supervising and mentoring emerging public health scholars, professionals, and students from diverse disciplines.

Lorraine has demonstrated a commitment to advancing health equity. For her doctoral research, she leveraged my epidemiological training to investigate how social and structural determinants influence Black women’s sexuality to mitigate SRH inequities, conducting two quantitative secondary research analyses, and collecting primary data for a qualitative analysis using focus group data.

As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of Haitian immigrants, Lorraine possesses a profound commitment to social justice and centers the voices of those with intersecting identities when examining health disparities among marginalized populations. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from Boston University with a focus on Human Physiology and her Master of Public Health from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
